Connected. Real World. At Scale.

Advancing Innovation
for Real World Impact.

The Lab To Life (L2L) innovation platform is a set of real-world, test-bed environments aimed at advancing innovation in collaboration with corporate partners and Purdue faculty and students. Each environment is enabled by a unique set of technologies, capabilities, and infrastructure targeting a variety of different use-cases within a domain space.

The L2L innovation platform seeks to leverage leading edge research with planned investment into infrastructure and real estate development to create an independent set of assets that can be used to advance innovation. The L2L environments support “in-the-wild” evaluation and testing, end-user engagement, and technology development that bridges the gap between lab research and real-world application and impact – a key tenet of Purdue’s land grant university mission.

The different environments include the (i) Discovery Park District environment for connected city and community innovation; (ii) Purdue University Airport environment for aviation innovation; (iii) Indiana Manufacturing Competitiveness Center (INMaC) environment for manufacturing Innovation; and (iv) Web3.0 environment for engagement of individuals within a community to advance entrepreneurial innovation.

L2L is a magnet for attracting innovators from industry, academia, and start-ups who are all focused on bringing novel innovation to the market and we welcome you to join us.

Environments

Aviation Innovation

The Purdue University Airport environment is an ideal setting to evaluate and test several areas of innovation including airport operations management, safety and security, advanced air mobility, and sustained aviation. PRF is actively working with Purdue faculty to create a complementary set of companies and aviation partners to develop a future of aviation accelerator.

Connected Community Innovation

The Discovery Park District environment supports engagement and innovation in areas like transportation, public safety, energy, personal commerce and the environment. Through PRF’s Digital Trust Initiative, PRF is engaging district residents and tenants because the most successful smart city initiatives are the ones in which the community is empowered and engaged as a collaboration partner that opts to actively participate.

Web3.0 Next Generation Internet Innovation

The Web3.0 environment is a virtual environment that supports community in engagement with individuals living and working in DPD and student and faculty at Purdue around applications like block chain, token economics, decentralized autonomous organizations, Web3.0 business models, and community driven innovation.
